Karaoke Night - Bloggers' Style

Ms. Ana and Sir Jason host the Bloggers' Karaoke Night

Last night, KWC Philippines hosted a Karaoke Night for bloggers to further promote the 2011 Philippine Karaoke World Championship. It was such a fun night for all the bloggers and guests as we all sing the night away. We didn't mind the rain, we just sang with good company and great tunes from the WOW Videoke.

Let us bring the Philippine Pride to the world!

Ms. Jin Bagasina, KWC Publicist, briefed us the qualifications on how to join the competition. Everyone was so excited because it will be our first time to compete in the Karaoke World Championship and show the world how good the Filipino talents are.

We love WOW Videoke!

They later announced that bloggers will have a Karaoke Competition, and yours truly, signed up then and there. You know that instance where I always hog the microphone during family gatherings? My WOW Videoke never fails me, and I am determined to win! But first, Krystle and I practiced at the cute WOW Karaoke booth and sang our favorite songs.

Kenneth Ignacio bagged 1st place at the Bloggers' Karaoke Contest

Nine bloggers showcased their vocal talents at the stage. Some, purely drawn with guts (I think that was just me :P) and inner talent. I won second runner up, singing "Run to You" by Whitney Houston and Montsch won 1st runner up with "Take Me Out of the Dark" by Gary Valenciano. Our Blogger Karaoke Champion is Kenneth singing his rendition of "You" by Basil Valdez.

Thanks KWC Philippines for the invite to this fun event! I hope that we can bring more talents internationally and show the whole world how amazing we are in terms of singing. For interested participants, you may visit their website at http://www.kwcphilippines.com/ or you may LIKE their Facebook Fanpage at http://www.facebook.com/kwcphilippines.

They treat every Filipino with "NGITING FIRST CLASS" and can compete with the rest of the International brands everywhere.

So please Nuffnang and Hapee, make us also first class with your surprise screening this June! :) To join, visit www.nuffnang.com.ph.

Time for Kung Fu Fighting: Kung Fu Panda 2

Po (Jack Black) and the Furious Five - Tigress (Angelina Jolie), Crane (David Cross), Mantis (Seth Rogen), Viper (Lucy Liu) and Monkey (Jackie Chan) are back! As he is now the DRAGON Warrior, Po continues to protect the Valley of Peace practicing his Kung Fu training as taught by Shifu (Dustin Hoffman).

On the other side of China, a villain named Shen (Gary Oldman) formed a powerful weapon that enabled him to conquer China and cease Kung Fu to existence. With Po and the Furious Five's martial arts prowess, it will be an interesting fight. But what happens if Po continues to relive his past and his hurtful beginnings? Will he be able to stop Shen and continue Kung Fu and gain inner peace or will the weapon destroy China and its origin? Kung Fu Panda 2 is directed by Jennifer Yuh and now shows in cinemas nationwide.

The cute and cuddly panda continues to show his awesomeness to the big screen. This second installment brought me into different level of emotions. Laughter- when Po shows his crazy antics, Suspense- during the fight scenes and how Po overcomes the wrath of Shen's weapon and Tears- when Po learned about his past and how he enfolds to the present. Seriously, I cried buckets during Po and Mr. Ping's scenes. Its that father-child thing that always get me.

And there will definitely be a Kung Fu Panda 3 in the future. A promising giveaway in the ending will interest you about Po's future. But for now, Kung Fu Panda 2 is definitely one of the best animated movies in 2011. Something kids and not so young ones will all enjoy.

Belle De Jour Rendezvous: I Dream, Therefore I Can!

Last May 21, the bellas of Belle de Jour Power planner had another afternoon of rendezvous at the newly opened Ace Water Spa Pasig. The event was entitled "I Dream, Therefore, I Can" because BDJ believes in the power of our dreams and how we can make them all come true.

The first speaker is Ms. Belinda Reyes, Asia Pacific Lead- Allergy Network of Glaxo Smith Kline Philippines. Her talk, "Walk Your Way Up", taught us to know what we really want for us to be able to achieve our goals. By doing well in what you're good at, you can get recognition, being able to have options and demand your real worth.

Ms. Jill Ngo-Crisologo, is the owner of Peak Performance Dance Studio and Manila's Premiere Belly Dance Teacher. She became an inspiration to us all, knowing her humble beginnings in Cashing in her Passion. Having been a dancer for so many years now, she has established a name in teaching dance classes and doing what she loves the most at the same time.

In line with Ms. Jill's passion, she is also inviting us to Bellyfest 2011, on June 25 featuring world class belly dancers. Fierce Tales is featured at the AFP Theater, Camp Aguinaldo.

Lastly, FASH host, Ms. Bianca Valerio taught us how to Look Good and Feel Good with her beauty and fashion tips. She said that to be able for be appreciated by your bosses, you should invest in yourself. That sometimes, looking good can also equal to feeling good about yourself.

Thanks to Belle De Jour Power Planner for another smashing event. I can't wait for another rendezvous like this. Now I get to know more BDJ girls and had fun with them at the same time. And the speakers are the best. I think I'm ready to face my dreams now too. :)

I Can Hear the Drum-sticks: Chicken Charlie

Last Monday, the boyfriend and I thought of eating out before he could drop me home. Figured, we have to reward ourselves, him on his first day of school again, (Yes, painting walls of his classroom, which he hated, by the way) and I, just because I was on a diet during our feast day. (Hallelujah!)

Passing by our usual route, I saw Chicken Charlie, which one of my blogger friends told me, that they have these delicious garlic chicken. So I asked boyfriend to dine there instead.

Chicken Charlie's recipe is quite a hit in New York and Korea. They use the double-frying technique - that is, frying the chicken without using breading until it turns crispy, yet tender and meaty on the inside. They also use only 100% natural oil so it doesn't contain trans-fat and is less greasy. Now I can finally eat chicken, including its skin without having to feel guilty about gaining weight.

We ordered the Combo of 2 Drumsticks and 2 Wings with a combination of soy-garlic and spicy chicken. The boyfriend also got Charlie's Bowl (Php59), chicken strips brushed with signature soy-garlic sauce and served with steamed rice.

The verdict? I will be a regular Chicken Charlie follower from now on! :) Chicken Charlie is healthy for the body and really yummy at the same time. Its just my kind of meal! I can't wait for my next visit. Plus their staff is really accommodating that I sure am coming back for more.

Chicken Charlie is located at 808 Banawe St. Barangay Sienna, Quezon City. To know more about them, visit their website at http://www.chickencharlie.net/ or LIKE their Facebook Page at https://www.facebook.com/chickencharliephilippines.

And We Thought We Have Seen Enough Vampire Wars: PRIEST

In a world where only two creatures exist, Man and Vampire, PRIEST is a sci-fi thriller that will make your hearts leap with its extreme action, a modern and futuristic location and a stimulating plot. Priest (Paul Bettany) is one of the legendary warrior priests that survived the vampire war. When the city was ruled by the Church and last of the vampires were believed to be locked in a place where they couldn’t escape, a group of much more powerful vampires seized his niece, Lucy (Lily Collins).

Hoping that Lucy is not yet infected, Priest turned away from the Church for no one believed that vampires still lurk around them. Prepared and able to meet his greatest enemy, he was then joined by Hicks (Cam Gigandet), Lucy’s wasteland sheriff boyfriend, together with a former Warrior Priestess (Maggie Q). Will he save his niece from the monstrous creatures and prevent her to be one of them? Or will he be summoned to die with the new breed of vampires that was far stronger than the ones they battle? Priest is directed by Scott Charles Stewart.

Fight scenes and vampires. Priest is a combination of The Matrix meets Twilight (And yeah, James, who’s a Twilight vampire, is now a slayer! Ironic isn’t it?). The Priestess’ moves are like Trinity of The Matrix. What I enjoyed most about the movie are the encounters of Priest with the new breed of vampires. They all look like aliens but rather forceful. The train scene was also groundbreaking. Black Hat (Karl Urban) proved to be an irritating villain and he enjoys being one.

Priest, is somehow a predictable movie. You can easily tell their emotions and why they would go through the entire quest, even if it seems tedious. The ending left the audience hanging, telling us an installment is in the works. But will I watch Priest again? Maybe, if they add more interesting cast members in the future plot.

Google Chrome Adopts Birds

I can see more sleepless nights

Its massive! They're angry and destructive! They can be so addicting, and now they're in chrome. Google Chrome that is.

Yes, you read that right. Your favorite game, Angry Birds now runs in Beta via Google Chrome. All you need is to download the Google Chrome browser in your PC or laptop and follow this link: http://chrome.angrybirds.com to get to the web based game. You can now play the game anywhere (if its not blocked and I'm referring it to our office. Bummer!)

I'm currently stuck at Level 2, game 21. I'm a self confessed AB addict. And I just started about 5 hours ago. Yes, its addicting. Remind me to sleep now will you? Thank you Google Chrome, now I don't have to wish for my Dad to buy me an iPad 2. On the other hand, I need an iPad for my freelance and stuff. I take it back. :P

And now I don't need to borrow Mench's roommate's iPad :P

L’Oreal Paris Philippines Presents Creations of Lyle Ibanez and Yvonne Quisumbing at the Philippine Fashion Week

My ticket to "fasyon"

May 11, 2011, the third day of the Philippine Fashion Week features Anne Curtis as the model for Lyle Ibanez and Yvonne Quisumbing’s creations. Sponsored by L’Oreal Paris Philippines for the Total Hair Repair 5 product, the three dresses that were modeled by Anne Curtis were all in red (one of Lyle Ibanez, one of Yvonne Quisumbing and the last one, a dress that combines both designers).

Anne Curtis ramps at the catwalk wearing red

The models wearing Lyle Ibanez's creations

Lyle Ibanez’s creations were mostly in black, while some are glittery and striking to the eye. Some of the models look gothic. Something like Taylor Momsen would wear in her latest Gossip Girl stint.

Elegant outfits from Yvonne Quisumbing

On the other hand, Yvonne Quisumbing features elegant outfits that are best worn for an evening shindig. They’re mostly made of silk and they all look comfortable to wear. Her play of colors is classic yet graceful.

My first time to attend the Philippine Fashion Week

Many thanks to L’Oreal Paris Philippines for the invites to the Philippine Fashion Week. It was my first time to attend said event and I enjoyed seeing models strut the runway. I even made a new blogger friend, Glenn. (http://gencified.blogspot.com/) What other fashion shows will you be attending? The Philippine Fashion Week Holiday 2011 shows until May 15.

Go Loco with ZenTea

I super love milk tea! Boyfriend and I would even go to Banawe just to get my fix of milk tea when we go out. But recently, I discovered a stall near our office and I have been a regular ever since.

Zentea's Menu is displayed in a cute chalkboard

ZENTEA’s products come in varieties: Milk Teas, Green Tea Iced Tea and PersonaliTeas. The first time we went there, I bought myself the Carnival, (Caramel Milk Tea) Large for Php55 and XL for Php60. I loved how rich it tastes. You see, I don’t drink milk. My Mom always had to force me to, but with Zentea, I could have an extra large serving of milk and I would even enjoy it.

Because I love strawberry!

During my second visit, I compared them to the one I always go to at Banawe. I asked them why they don’t have more flavored milk teas. Then the store crew told me that I can personalize the Crème Tea (Fruit Crème Tea) by choosing the flavors from the Green Tea Iced Teas. So voila, I finally had my Strawberry Milk Tea fix.

Zentea Products are reasonably priced starting from Php35 up to Php70 with their highest. They’re affordable and yummy, that I simply get my milk teas from them almost every day. If you’re just from the Ortigas area and wants a real tasty and healthy treat, Zentea is located at the Pearl Plaza Building, Pearl Drive, Ortigas, Pasig City.

MYMP Resurfaces to the Music Scene with "The Unreleased Acoustic Collection"

Yes, you read that right! Make Your Momma Proud or MYMP is definitely back with their new album: MYMP: The Unreleased Acoustic Collection. Continuing to swoon us with their incredible music, the band, led by Chin Alcantara (guitarist), Jeff Lima (drummer), Hannche Bobis, (keyboardist) and Ibey Haber (bassist) is now with a new vocalist, Juliet Bahala, an 18 year-old regional singing champ from Davao.

Launched this afternoon at the Robinson's Manila, their 14-track album features Juliet's renditions of the greatest hits of the 90's like Think of Laura, Til They Take My Heart Away, Power of Two, Piano in the Dark and Baby Now That I've Found You. Joining their powerful list of songs are the music that made us fall in love like Superman, Forever Blue, Cruisin', Someday We'll Know, Dont Dream Its Over, Buses and Trains, People are People, Breakout and the carrier single of the album, Sway, originally sung by Bic Runga.

The concept of their new album are their previous versions of these songs that they may have sung live during their concerts. Chin Alcantara, believes that "studio versions might be appreciated by the listeners".

With their new vocalist, all eyes are on Juliet Bahala to fill the shoes of former member, Juris Fernandez. With her soothing voice and performs ballads and even RnBs as well, MYMP will surely be expected a lot in the music industry. Hopefully in the following albums, they could instill their original songs that would best fit for Juliet's voice.

As for now, we can enjoy this must have album and listen away about this collection that is full of love and its many phases. A worth buy for the romantics and daydreamers.

You can also catch MYMP in their Mall Promo tours on May 13 at Robinson's Sta. Rosa Laguna, May 14 at Robinson's Summit Ridge Tagaytay, May 15 at Robinson's Lipa, Batangas, May 28 at Robinson's Starmills Pampanga and May 29 at Robinson's Dasmarinas Cavite.

Samsung Notebook Series 9: In Perspective

(From Samsung Press Release)

Manila,Philippines – April 28, 2011: Following the success of its grand and regal launch, Samsung Electronics Philippines Corporation (SEPCO) signed up three home design experts to interpret the sexy characteristics of the Samsung Notebook Series 9 – the thinnest, lightest and brightest notebook by Samsung.

Samsung’s IN PERSPECTIVE truly inspired as three of the country’s top home and lifestyle magazines, Metro Home, My Home and Real Living Magazine fantastically recreated the features of the Samsung Notebook Series 9 into a one-of-a-kind home design exhibit held at the Powerplant Mall, Rockwell, Makati City.

Metro Home interprets the thinness of the Samsung Notebook Series 9 as a reflection of a homeowner’s unique character, yet not in that typical negative way. According to Metro Home editor Carlo Tadiar, “A homeowner believes that the important aesthetics are in the essentials. Thinness is not necessarily the result of vanity; it is more the condition of wanting only the essential.”

Taking to the heart the lightness of the notebook, My Home Magazine fashioned a light and breezy living space, an epitome of rest and relaxation, that truly felt as light as air. My Home Magazine wanted the feelings of convenience and comfort to be present in their design. According to Jie Pambid, editor-in-chief of My Home, “The feeling is anything but heavy. White surfaces shine and glow as light bounce and create reflections of light. Light on light.”

Real Living Magazine interpreted the Samsung Series 9’s brightness in three ways – light, intellect and color. Real Living Magazine created a beautiful and efficient living space. “The functional pieces found in this small area also serve as decors – including the sleek Samsung Notebook which served as a light source. Who says reading nooks are boring? Style plus function meets a small reading corner – truly a bright idea, “added Rachelle Medina, editor-in-chief of Real Living.

“Expect only the best as Samsung takes your laptop experience to an even greater level with truly comprehensive mobile experiences and the best in display offering our customers a complete and comprehensive notebook that meets all of their needs with one premium device with the Samsung Notebook Series 9,” said Hannah Francisco, Samsung NPC Product Manager.

The Samsung Notebook Series 9 is the world’s THINNEST measuring only 16.3mm (0.64 inches) in depth, and with a screen size of 13 inches; the world’s LIGHTEST with a weight of only 1.31 kg (2.88lbs), and; the worlds BRIGHTEST -- using only Samsung’s LED technology: ‘SuperBright Plus’ display (400 nit) with 16 million color reproduction, 80% brighter than other notebooks, all encased in the most advanced duralumin metal alloy used in specialized aircrafts, making it durable yet stylish and ultra light.

The Samsung Notebook Series 9 is available at Php 79,990.00 with a three-year warranty (12 months 0% interest on all major credit cards).

Heist Like It Fast: Fast 5 (The Fast and the Furious 5)

If diamonds are a girl’s best friend, then cars are of a man’s. I haven’t seen a guy who wouldn’t drool if a car’s set-up is swell, and to make things more interesting, they’d talk nonstop about it. I love cars, but I’d rather take the passenger seat.

Fast Five: (Fast and the Furious 5): Summer Heist takes you on racing gears like never before. The fifth installment of this heart pounding movie gets you hyped up with fancy cars and gorgeous men (and girls too!)

Hosted by Pilipinas Teleserv, “Night Out at the Cinema” invited bloggers for a night of fun and to further uphold their Citizen Services that are FAST and RELIABLE. An evening full of laughter and even prizes, it was a successful gathering of bloggers around the Metro.

Fast 5 takes us to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, as Dom Toretto (Vin Diesel) escapes from prison with the help of his sister Mia (Jordana Brewster) and former enemy/ cop Brian O’Conner (Paul Walker). Their escape to the other side of the country was such a success, but when they crossed the corrupt businessman Hernan Reyes (Joaquim de Almeida), taking away the Ford GT40 where Reyes’ drug dealings were stored, they had to put up a solid team to steal $100 million from the latter. But as their plan was finally setting in order, DSS agent Luke Hobbs (Dwayne Johnson) also pursues to seize Toretto and put him behind bars once again.

High speed cars and an interesting storyline, Fast 5 will make your adrenaline rush, keep you fairly emotional (with Mia and Brian’s scenes), fall in love with the characters (Read: Ludacris and Tyrese) and will make you love the sights and sounds of Rio de Janeiro. Oh, and don’t leave your seats yet during credits, a clipping of a Fast and the Furious 6 spoiler is in store for us.

Fast 5 is now playing at cinemas near you, so catch this exhilarating movie now! The film is directed by Justin Lin and distributed by Universal Pictures.
