#QC75: Quezon City Celebrates Its 75th Anniversary

Quezon City has a special place in my heart. I may not be born in the city, but I feel as if I've grown there. My alma mater, Little Merry Hearts Montessori was in the Quezon City, and I think the first mall I've ever been to is SM North EDSA. The city is so colorful. And filled with fondest memories, that is why I am also celebrating with its people on its Diamond Jubilee Year.

There are many things happening in QC this October. But before that, let me interest you on a cultural sense.

Years ago, I went to Las Casas Filipinas de Acuzar and loved the old houses. Well at Quezon City Memorial Circle, a Heritage House stands and it is where President Manuel Quezon lived. You can visit and relive the past at The Quezon House, free of charge, and open to the public during Tuesday to Sunday from 9AM to 4PM.

This two storey house is the original one from 45 Gilmore Street. The tiles, the furnitures, and precious artifacts are inside, to relive history. There are also useful infomation about Pres. Quezon's life and legacy.

On October 10, festivities begin as there will be a Diamond Jubilee Mardi Gras at the Tomas Morato area from 4PM to 7PM. Fro the Amoranto Stadium, a spectacular parade is set with 500 fully costumed festival dancers where they will exhibit the Philippine festivals.

At 7PM, a Quezon City Grand Parade of Lights will also be held at Tomas Morato area where there are LED illuminated floats that will leave you in awe. Quezon City resident or not, be part of this grandeur to experience the exciting city.

On the next day, a continuation of the Grand Parade of Lights on a different route, all the way to the Quezon City Memorial Circle.

And to end the festivities with a roar, QCRocks@75 will be held at the Quezon Memorial Circle. This Grand Concert features Parokya Ni Edgar, Rocksteddy, stand up comedians and other media personalities will grace the event. Excitement and great music, that's how Quezon City proves that they are truly the city of stars.

Come and celebrate with Quezon City as they leave a mark on their 75th year of cityhood. For more information about the festivities happening around the city, visit www.quezoncity.gov.ph.
