Freeway Celebrates the Works of Bienvenido Lumbera

Freeway celebrates its National Artist Collection with their 11th tribute by featuring the National Artist for Literature, Mr. Bienvenido Lumbera, one of our few remaining living treasured National Artists. Launched last May 20 at The Row in Glorietta 1, the night was filled with poetry and music.

Tatay Bien Lumbera
Mr. Bienvenido Lumbera is one of the national icons as an activist. During cocktails, his librettos were played and a display of literature, fashion and arts truly came place. We all can't help but be proud of this living legend.

The collection
As Freeway continues their tribute to the National Artists, they unveiled the Fall Collection for 2014, which featured the works of Tatay Bien Lumbera. A collection of tops and dresses with vibrant mosaic prints matching Lumbera’s literary aesthetic gave the audience the gift of knowledge and pride to take home. Here are the highlights of the collection:

The event was hosted by Tessa Prieto Valdes where they first featured the life and works of Tatay Bien. That way, we get to know him more, and how he loved the country.

After this, as front act,  the guests were treated to a lovely song number performed by an up-and-coming artist, Lirah Bermudez where she rendered a couple of Carpenter songs- a personal request of Lumbera’s family. To cap the musical event of the night,  award winning rapper Gloc-9  performed Tatay Bien’s favorite rap songs to a huge crowd of fans gathering in the hallways.

Truly, Tatay Bien lives for his country and the arts. And I can't help but be proud how he sparked knowledge to all of us that night.
