SOLO Brings Cartoonist Tony Velasquez’s KENKOY Collection and Online Model Search

SOLO introduces their newest Pinoy Cartoonist Memorabilia Series
2010 – SOLO launched its first Pinoy Cartoonist Memorabilia featuring Larry Alcala’s “Slice of Life” and its characters in their men and women’s collection and accessories. And because their designs are hip and stylish, it instantly became a hit to fashionistas in the Metro.

This year, SOLO is proud to continue their Pinoy Cartoonist Memorabilia Series featuring the work of the Father of Philippine Cartoon, Mr. Tony Velasquez and his popular comic strip, KENKOY. Since Kenkoy was created back in 1929, I’m sure that my grandparents and my parents might have enjoyed reading the said comic strip.

Francisco Harabas, a.k.a. Kenkoy was a fashionista in his own way too! With his decked in suspenders, charol shoes, double breasted suit, baggy pants, a sailor hat, and a slicked back hairstyle, he was considered a debonair and a Philippine pop icon. And that is why Kenkoy is considered the most influential comic strip in the Philippines, with its wit and humor that is truly Proudly Pinoy.

Kenkoy gives a refreshing twist to the SOLO Collections. And they carry not just clothes, but Kenkoy accessories as well. Here are some of the pieces from the collection:

His&Hers black striped graphic tees (P595) for ladies

His&Hers black striped graphic tees (P695) for mens

ladies pique knit dress (P1495)

men's long sleeve graphic tee (P695)

watch (P695)

ladies all over printed racerback (P695)

ladies mid waist shorts fatigue double buttons (P995)

men's plaid long sleeve shirt (P1695)
